PSN Outage Hits Amid Backlash To PlayStation’s All-Digital Future
The PlayStation Network is down this morning as everyone from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls players (the Sony-published game is in the middle of a free beta weekend) to people who just want to log into their accounts face server outages.
“All services are experiencing issues,” reads the latest status report for PlayStation. That includes everything from account management to digital purchases across PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, and Web PSN. Sony has yet to acknowledge the issues across its PlayStation Support channels.

The PlayStation Network has been experiencing intermittent issues all morning, with many blaming the service disruption on an outage at Amazon Web Services. But AWS has since claimed to have resolved its issues without a notable improvement to the situation on PSN.
While PSN has been down in the past, including a mysterious extended outage just last year, the latest problems come as Sony is already dealing with fallout from its unpopular decision to kill PlayStation discs starting in 2028. In addition to concerns over lack of ownership of digital purchases, extended server disruptions reinforce how dependent an all-digital future is on Sony’s online infrastructure.
