Samsung’s Gemini AI Glasses Can Translate, Navigate and Summarize Messages
Samsung has unveiled a new pair of AI-powered smart glasses designed to handle everyday tasks such as real-time translation, navigation, and message summaries.
A key part of the experience is Google Gemini, which has been adapted for wearable devices. Using the built-in camera, Gemini can understand what the wearer is looking at and provide relevant assistance.
Introduced at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event, the glasses are positioned as a lightweight wearable for daily use rather than an immersive headset for gaming or professional mixed-reality work. Samsung developed the platform with Google and Qualcomm, while Gentle Monster and Warby Parker contributed to the frame designs.
The glasses run on Android XR and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, which is built for slim and lightweight smart eyewear. Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset, the glasses do not include a display and instead rely on audio feedback, voice commands, touch controls, and camera-based assistance.
For example, the glasses can capture information from a whiteboard and help organize it into a notes application. They can also record first-person video or allow users to share what they are seeing during a video call.
The wearable can summarize long messages and read important details aloud, making it easier to stay updated without checking a phone. It also supports real-time translation, which could be useful for travelers and users communicating in unfamiliar languages.
Samsung says the glasses can provide navigation guidance and offer information about nearby places while users are walking or sightseeing.
The company showed two frame designs. Gentle Monster created a slim black version, while Warby Parker developed a brown frame aimed at everyday wear.
Samsung has not yet announced pricing or availability. The company is also working on separate augmented-reality glasses with built-in displays for more advanced visual experiences.
