The Elder Scrolls VI Is Bethesda’s ‘Primary Development Focus’ With The Majority Of The Team Working On The Game

Bethesda Game Studios has revealed in a lengthy post detailing its upcoming projects that The Elder Scrolls VI, which was announced eight years ago at E3 2018, is the ‘primary development focus’ for the team.

The post acknowledges that fans have been waiting a long time for the next chapter in the fantasy-RPG series, and noted that the studio is “where we planned to be” at this point.

The Elder Scrolls VI is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise. With over 65 million copies sold, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know it’s been a very long wait for the sequel. The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.

The Elder Scrolls VI has been keeping a low profile for years now, and we haven’t seen anything major on the project aside from the logo during its reveal. However, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier recently claimed that the highly anticipated title is at least two – three years away from release, which matches Bethesda’s Todd Howard’s statement last November that the game is ‘still a long way off.’

Right now the game hasn’t actually been officially confirmed for any specific platforms, but if it is indeed coming out around 2028/2029 as Schreier’s comments suggest, then it wouldn’t be hard to imagine it’s quietly been moved to PS6 and the new Xbox at this point.
