Todd Howard Reveals He’s Not Considering Retirement As Bethesda Looks To The Future With Fallout 5 & More
Bethesda’s Todd Howard has revealed during an interview with Bloomberg that he isn’t thinking about retiring anytime soon, although admitted the thought did cross his mind at one point.
The truth is, there was a period of time a while back where I pondered, what does it look like? Not is it imminent, but what does it look like? And I no longer do. I just love it. I love working with these people. It’s really not something I think about. Some folks in our industry, that are a little older than me, they’re just making great stuff too. So, it’s not something I’ve been thinking about.
Howard’s comments come following some major announcements by Bethesda Game Studios last week, where the company outlined its plans for the future that includes preproduction of Fallout 5 using Creation Engine 3. Beyond that, the studio announced that Obsidian is working on a new Fallout game, while remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in production. Finally, the company said that The Elder Scrolls VI is the ‘primary development focus‘ for the studio.
Bethesda is one of the many studios that were hit by the mass layoffs at Xbox earlier this month, and revealed that it will be restructuring around its “strongest franchises” in wake of the cuts.
