Final Fantasy VII Revelation Director Confirms ‘A Lot Of Minigames And Side Content,’ But Is Mindful Of Feedback From FFVII Rebirth

The director of Final Fantasy VII Revelation has revealed during an interview with Game Informer that the game will offer plenty of minigames and side content, but noted the development team has been mindful of feedback from players of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in this respect.
Naoki Hamaguchi commented that the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project won’t skimp on extra content, noting that one of the ‘identifying aspects of FFVII’ is its various minigames and side activities. However, based on feedback, the team have made some adjustments in regards to how this content is implemented in FFVII Revelation.
One of the identifying aspects of FFVII is the abundance of minigames and side content, so if I weren’t to stay true to that, I don’t think I would be able to call this a faithful remake that stays true to the original. So, yes, we are going to have a lot of minigames and a lot of side content.
With that being said, we’re very mindful of the feedback we received for FFVII Rebirth, so we did make a lot of adjustments so that fans can play the minigames and side content sections a lot more smoothly. There will be difficulty settings implemented into the minigames now, and if players feel that it’s not their cup of tea, they have the option to just skip the minigame section, too. And also, most of the rewards are not going to be tied to combat items, either, to give them a feeling of ease.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled to ship for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S in Spring 2027. Earlier this month it was strongly hinted that the game would be receiving DLC, after a series of DLC packs and a Story Expansion were mentioned in an Epic Games Store leak.
Hamaguchi-san also recently confirmed that players will be able to revisit a number of FFVII Rebirth locations in the upcoming title, while exploring a much larger game world. Furthermore, FFVII Revelation will allow players to reach Level 99 and battle the WEAPONS as optional encounters, with the latter having their own narrative component.
