Apple Music in iOS 27 Brings Five New Features to Improve the Listening Experience

Apple is introducing several new features for Apple Music with iOS 27, making the app more useful and enjoyable for iPhone users. The update adds a refreshed design, better music playback, new widgets, and more ways to discover songs. While some features are designed with future iPhone models in mind, they will also be available on existing supported devices.

Apple Music in iOS 27 Brings Five New Features to Improve the Listening Experience

Landscape Mode Arrives

One of the biggest additions is support for landscape mode in Apple Music. Users can now use the app horizontally, making it easier to enjoy music while the iPhone is placed on a desk, stand, or charger.

The new layout displays album artwork alongside playback controls, similar to the portrait view. Apple has also added side-by-side lyrics and artwork in landscape mode, allowing users to follow song lyrics more comfortably while listening.

AutoMix Gets Smarter

Apple is also improving the AutoMix feature that first arrived with iOS 26. AutoMix automatically creates smooth transitions between songs, giving playlists a more seamless flow.

With iOS 27, Apple says the transitions are more immersive and natural, creating a better listening experience. The company is also expanding AutoMix beyond the iPhone, bringing it to Apple Music on tvOS and HomePod.

Refreshed Artist Pages

Artist pages are receiving a visual makeover in iOS 27. The updated design includes full-screen colorful backgrounds that match the artist’s main image, giving each page a more modern appearance.

Apple has also rearranged the layout to make important controls easier to access. Featured songs and albums are displayed more prominently, helping users quickly find an artist’s most popular music.

New Friends Playlist

Apple Music is adding a new weekly playlist called Friends to its collection of personalized “Made for You” playlists.

Updated every Thursday, the playlist highlights songs that friends are currently listening to. Each track also shows which friend has been enjoying it, making it easier to discover new music through people you know.

iOS 27 also introduces a new extra-large widget size, and Apple Music is among the first apps to support it.

Users can choose from three new widgets:

  • Recently Played
  • Recommendations
  • Top Charts

These widgets can be placed on the Home Screen or in the Today View, offering quicker access to favorite music and personalized recommendations.

Apple Music Subscription

Apple Music is available for $11.99 per month. It is also included as part of the Apple One subscription bundle, which combines multiple Apple services under a single plan.

Overall, the iOS 27 update focuses on making Apple Music more interactive, visually appealing, and easier to use. From a new landscape layout and smoother song transitions to redesigned artist pages and larger widgets, the update introduces several improvements that aim to enhance the everyday music listening experience.
