Destiny 2 Update 1.196/4.01 Is a Minor Patch Released on July 28

As part of today’s Destiny 2 server downtime, Bungie has rolled out a new game update, and this is a minor one — so minor in fact, that we didn’t even get a proper changelog for it.

Console gamers will see this download as Destiny 2 update 1.196/4.01, and this is a super small download that doesn’t bring in any new content or even relevant gameplay-related changes.

Read on for the info we do have straight from Bungie.

Destiny 2’s Latest Minor Update Might Signal the Downturn of Changelogs

Since we’ve covered Destiny 2 here at MP1st, Bungie has always supplied a changelog (patch notes) for every patch released, be it big or small. That changes today, as the devs have not released any changelog, though they did confirm the servers are back up.

Destiny 2 Down on July 7

Thankfully, the devs did mention something about it, though it’s not really a changelog. According to Bungie, “Next Tuesday we will have a short amount of downtime and background maintenance for Destiny 2. There will be a small download alongside it, but this is not a large patch. We have a minor display fix for expansion pricing in the game. We do not want players, returning or new, to be mislead or confused by incorrect listings in the game, especially when they’re just getting back up to speed with Monument of Triumph and previous expansions.”

That’s about it. It’s been an hour and we haven’t seen anything posted by the developers.

We wouldn’t be surprised if this is the start of the downturn of communications to players, since the game’s live service aspect is essentially over, though we’re hoping that’s not the case.

If we receive a proper changelog, we’ll update the article with the info.
