Now, by predicting Spain’s glorious run to the trophy, Electronic Arts has successfully nailed the winner of the World Cup for the fifth consecutive time, and they can officially add the 2026 tournament to their flawless resume!

They did this by using their in-game database and player statistics in EA Sports FC to simulate the entire tournament from the group stages all the way to the final match. That way, by crunching the virtual numbers of high-level players like Rodri, Cucurella, Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Oyarzabal, and, of course, Lamine Yamal, the squad managed by head coach Luis de la Fuente was singled out by the game as the big favorite to win it all.

To be honest, simulating a tournament as unpredictable as the World Cup, where a single bad referee call, a red card, or an injury can ruin an entire nation’s dreams, and getting it right five times in a row borders on the supernatural! We are talking about a video game analyzing virtual attributes like passing precision, sprint speed, passing accuracy, and defensive awareness, and somehow translating that into a perfectly accurate real-world prophecy.

I have to admit, I have absolutely no idea how EA managed to transform EA Sports FC into a literal crystal ball, but this is definitely impressive!
