Esports World Cup 2026 set to crown 4 champions in Paris

DUBAI: With the 2026 Esports World Cup halfway through, the next few days will see four champions crowned, with the OWCS Midseason Championship, Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence Series Championship, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s Mid Season Cup, and Street Fighter 6 concluding in week four.

With 10 tournaments already wrapped up, the Club Championship race is also tightening with every result. The defending champions, Team Falcons, are right in the thick of it in week four, as they look to climb up the rankings.

The Saudi club is the favorite in Warzone, still alive in the MLBB knockouts through Falcons PH, and will look to secure back-to-back EWC championships in Overwatch.

Overwatch

The story writes itself around Kim “Proper Dong-hyun. He won Overwatch last year with Team Falcons and walked away with Finals MVP, then packed his bags for Zeta Division over the off-season.

He has not missed a beat since, tearing through the Korean circuit across the first half of 2026.

Over the next few days, 16 teams will clash across two brackets, with the top four from each field securing a spot in the single-elimination playoff bracket. Everything culminates in a first-to-four Grand Final showdown on Sunday, where a massive $1 million prize pool awaits the victor.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang: Mid Season Cup

The MLBB’s Mid Season Cup is down to the final eight teams. After an entire week of group stage action reduced the pack, which included the shock elimination of reigning champions Team Liquid PH, it is single-elimination from here, best-of-five all the way, widening to a best-of-seven for Saturday’s Grand Final.

With $3 million on the line, valuable Club Championship points, and the MSC trophy waiting at the end, what is certain is that a new champion will walk away victorious.

There have been more than a few upsets already, alongside some of the closest MLBB games ever. Team Falcons PH and Yangon Galacticos have already booked spots in the top four and are looking strong contenders for the crown. The semifinals are on Friday and Grand Final on Aug. 1.

Street Fighter 6

Thirty-two of the world’s best are packed into four days of Street Fighter action.

Saul “MenaRD” Mena Segundo walks in as the man everyone is gunning for; the reigning back-to-back EVO champ is about as safe a favorite as this genre ever throws up.

Another name to watch is Eisuke “Yamaguchi” Yamaguchi, who enters EWC 2026 as Japan’s top entrant. Yamaguchi made history at EVO Japan 2026 in May by conquering a record-breaking field of 7,168 entrants without dropping a single set.

So far, 15-year-old Hinao has been the biggest surprise, qualifying out of his group with two 3-0 stomps. The young Japanese player was promoted from REJECT’s youth roster just two months ago, so to perform this well on a big stage is impressive to say the least. Keep your eyes peeled as the champion is crowned on Saturday.

Call of Duty: Warzone

The brand-new Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence Series reaches its climax with the championship in Paris. Team Falcons arrive as the team to beat after sweeping both DreamHack LANs, Birmingham and Atlanta, earlier in the circuit, which tells you plenty about their form.

Twisted Minds are back to defend the crown they claimed in 2025, but with only one member of that roster still with the club, and a last-minute player trade before the roster lock, success is far from guaranteed. There is a million dollars in the pot and the trophy gets handed out on Saturday.

Club Championship

Heading into the weekend, NAVI lead at the top with 2,250 points. However, they are at risk of slipping down the pecking order, as they will not be competing until week six.

Virtus.pro are in second place, with 1,950 points, and are competing in Overwatch and Warzone this weekend. Team Vitality are in third with 1,800 points, with teams represented in MLBB and Warzone this weekend.

The defending Club Champions, Team Falcons, sit in sixth place with 1,300 points. They will take part in three of the four games this weekend, and with them being favorites in at least one, they have a good chance to jump up the standings.
