Government Plans Uninterrupted Power Supply for Pakistan’s Telecom Sector
The federal government has decided to develop a comprehensive plan to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for Pakistan’s telecom sector. The decision was shared during a briefing to the Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat.
According to the briefing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a high-level committee to prepare the plan. The committee will work under the leadership of the Secretary of Information Technology and will examine ways to provide reliable and continuous power to telecom infrastructure across the country.
Government Plans Uninterrupted Power Supply for Pakistan’s Telecom Sector
The government aims to strengthen the telecommunications sector by reducing power disruptions that can affect mobile networks, internet services, and other digital communication systems. A stable electricity supply is essential for maintaining smooth telecom operations, especially as Pakistan’s digital economy continues to expand.
Officials informed the committee that the newly formed panel will study the current challenges faced by telecom operators due to power outages and recommend practical solutions. The plan will focus on ensuring that telecom facilities receive uninterrupted energy so that communication services remain available even during periods of high electricity demand or power shortages.
Reliable power is critical for telecom towers, data centers, and network equipment, which require continuous electricity to operate efficiently. Frequent outages can lead to service interruptions, affecting businesses, government services, and millions of mobile and internet users across the country.

The government’s initiative reflects its commitment to improving digital connectivity and ensuring that communication services remain stable and dependable. If implemented successfully, the proposed plan could help improve the quality of telecom services, support economic activity, and strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure for the future.
