Halo: Campaign Evolved Had the Worst Launch in the Series on Steam
Halo: Campaign Evolved launched on Steam with a peak online player count of 25,376 – the worst launch in the series’ history and only 17th among Xbox Game Studios releases on the platform.
The game was released on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and also became available to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. On Steam, the remake launched with a peak online player count of 25,376 approximately ten hours after release.
This is significantly less than Halo Infinite’s result, which holds a record of 272,586 concurrent players. However, Infinite has free multiplayer. The new title also noticeably lagged behind Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which reached a peak of 161,024 players after its Steam release in December 2019.
During early access, the game’s rating rose to “Mostly Positive,” but after the full release, it dropped back to “Mixed.” Currently, 65% of 8,480 user reviews are positive.
Among Xbox Game Studios games, this is the 17th largest launch on Steam. Halo: Campaign Evolved slightly surpassed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (24,863 players) and significantly lagged behind Forza Horizon 6, which remains the publisher’s largest release on the platform with a peak of 302,645 players.
