Humanoid robot startup Holiday Robotics announced on the 13th that it has attracted a total of 155 billion won worth of Series A investment.

It is the largest investment in domestic start-up series A, and it also recorded the largest investment in a single round based on domestic humanoid companies. It is interpreted that the growth potential of the humanoid robot market and the technology of Holiday Robotics were highly evaluated at the same time.

Existing investors Stone Bridge Ventures, Atnum Investments, Intervest and Spring Camp participated in the round. New investors include IMM Investment, SL Investment, KB Investment, Bon Angels Venture Partners, Premier Partners, Ulmus Investment, SJ Investment Partners, Dasung Ventures, Atinum Capital Partners, and Goodwater Capital. In addition, the financial sector, such as the Korea Development Bank and the Industrial Bank of Korea, participated to lay the foundation for securing growth funds in various ways in the future.

Holiday Robotics is a physical AI company founded by CEO Song Ki-young, who led manufacturing innovation by starting industrial AI vision company Sua Lab in 2013. The goal is to implement automation of manufacturing sites through humanoid robots based on accumulated experience in manufacturing AI. Currently, it operates manufacturing and business development organizations, including about 50 researchers and engineers, and top-level researchers and industrial experts in robotics and AI, including those from MIT, Seoul National University, KAIST, and Samsung Electronics, are leading product development and commercialization.

The company is developing “FRIDAY,” a humanoid robot optimized for the manufacturing site. Friday is designed to work with humans in a manufacturing environment with a lot of repetitive work, and is being developed with the goal of humanoid robots with affordability that can be put into real industrial sites.

It is preparing to mass-produce with the aim of commercializing Friday in the second half of this year, and plans to establish a production system of 100 units per year in 2026 and supply it to customers. In 2027, the company plans to secure an annual production capacity of 1,000 units to expand the supply of humanoids throughout the manufacturing industry. Currently, it is conducting closed PoC (technical demonstration) with major domestic and foreign companies in industries with many repetitive tasks such as automobiles, semiconductors, and logistics, and is preparing to mass-produce it with the aim of commercializing actual industrial sites in the second half of this year.

The company plans to use this investment to upgrade its mass production system and expand its R&D workforce to more than 100. In addition, it plans to build a manufacturing infrastructure that can produce more than 10,000 units per year, and expand its business area to the service robot and home robot markets, starting with the commercialization of humanoids centered on the manufacturing industry. In the short term, it also proposed a goal of lowering product prices to about 100 million won through mass production.

Song Ki-young, CEO of Holiday Robotics, said, “This investment is a result of the market’s recognition of the possibility that humanoids can create economic value in actual industrial sites. We will first successfully commercialize it at the manufacturing site to prove the practical utility of humanoids, and grow into a global top 10 robotics company in the long run.”
