Jose Cuervo is giving away free margaritas all summer: How to get yours

Jose Cuervo is encouraging workers to clock out early this summer by offering free margaritas as part of a new promotion aimed at rescuing “Summer Fridays” from late afternoon meetings.

Running through Labor Day, the tequila brand has launched its Summer Fridays campaign, encouraging fans to wrap up work early and start their weekends with a margarita instead.

As part of the promotion, visitors to Cuervo’s Summer Fridays HQ can claim reimbursement for one Cuervo cocktail or pour worth up to $10 while supplies last.

Participants can also enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win $1,500 toward their ideal Summer Friday, while up to 300 additional winners will receive $25 toward their next Cuervo margarita.

Cuervo wants workers to swap meetings for margaritas

Cuervo says the campaign is designed to help workers reclaim Friday afternoons from last-minute meetings with a satirical “corporate benefits portal” packed with downloadable resources for leaving work early.

The Summer Fridays HQ includes mock doctor’s notes signed by “Dr. Marg A. Rita,” out-of-office email templates, reaction GIFs, video call backgrounds, margarita recipes, and other tongue-in-cheek office resources.

In a fictional company memo, Cuervo claims that Friday afternoon meetings have become a workplace crisis.

“The proliferation of 4 p.m. Friday calendar invites has reached a crisis point: Summer Fridays are in danger,” the memo reads.

The memo goes on to encourage workers to:

“Close their laptops by 1 p.m. on Fridays, relocate meetings to patios whenever possible, replace the phrase ‘per my last email’ with ‘logging off for the weekend’ and prioritize margaritas over miscellaneous administrative tasks.”

The reimbursement offer and sweepstakes are available through Labor Day while supplies last. Consumers can submit one qualifying Cuervo cocktail or pour receipt to receive up to $10 in reimbursement through Summer Fridays HQ.

Cuervo’s giveaway comes as food and beverage brands continue rolling out promotions aimed at getting customers out during the summer months.

Earlier this year, Budweiser celebrated America’s 250th birthday by offering free beers to eligible customers as part of a nationwide promotion.
