Mbappé Is the EA Sports FC 27 Cover Athlete

Electronic Arts has announced Kylian Mbappé as the cover athlete for EA Sports FC 27 Ultimate Edition, marking his first appearance on the franchise’s cover in four years. The Real Madrid forward will also front EA Sports FC Mobile, the company said, and the reveal precedes a gameplay trailer scheduled for 7PM KSA on Thursday, 23 July.

Why Mbappé, and why now?

EA has tied the selection to Mbappé’s recent form at club and international level. Since moving to Real Madrid in 2024, he has finished as LALIGA EA Sports’ top scorer in each of his two seasons in Spain and claimed the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Golden Boot after scoring 15 goals in the competition, according to the publisher.

Jeff Sharma, Vice President, Franchise Strategy and Marketing at EA Sports FC, said Mbappé “embodies the ambition, creativity and global appeal that defines EA Sports FC today.” Mbappé, in the announcement, called the cover “a very special moment” and referenced continuing “my long-term relationship with the franchise.”

Mbappé is not new to the cover: he fronted FIFA 22, a selection that, as Goal reported at the time, made him the first player to repeat as a cover athlete since Cristiano Ronaldo. So while this is his first cover under the EA Sports FC name, it is a return to familiar billing rather than a first-time appearance.

What FC 27 buyers should watch next

Mbappé’s cover placement is specifically tied to the Ultimate Edition, which historically carries early-access and in-game extras across the series. EA has not detailed the FC 27 edition line-up, release date, or pricing in this announcement, so it remains unclear what the Ultimate Edition will contain or how much it will cost.
