The Lord Of The Rings: War In The North Remaster Chatter Heats Up As ‘Legacy Edition’ Leaks On SteamDB
The SteamDB has posted up a listing for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition, suggesting a remaster of the 2011 fantasy-action game is in the pipeline.
Nothing official has been announced yet by publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, but we wouldn’t be surprised if a remaster were to happen – the original game was a great little co-op adventure despite its flaws.
Developed by Snowblind Studios, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North was released for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360, and combines elements of both J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel and Peter Jackson’s movie trilogy adaptation. The game features three playable characters, each one possessing a unique class — Eradan (Dunedain Ranger), Andriel (Elven Loremaster), and Farin (Dwavern Champion). Players can team up in co-op online and take part in an adventure that spans multiple locations across Middle-earth, such as Fornost, Mirkwood, and Mount Gundabad, and will cross paths with a number of iconic characters including Gandalf, Frodo, Bilbo, Aragorn, and Legolas among others.
Each character is notable for specialising in a particular combat class. For example, Farin is comfortable using any weapon and packs a punch, while Andriel can wield offensive and supportive spells. Finally, Eradan can employ stealth to sneak up on enemies undetected, and is highly skilled with a sword and attacking multiple foes at once.
