New microsurgery robot makes complex procedures accessible to more patients
The collaboration between TU/e and MUMC+ led to the founding of Microsure in 2016, a TU/e spin-off. The company developed a surgical robot that supports surgeons in performing extremely delicate procedures.
Each year, several hundred spin-off companies—businesses originating from scientific research—are established at the university. TU/e’s Knowledge Transfer Office supports them in their creation by, for example, securing intellectual property rights and training and coaching entrepreneurial scientists through educational programs.
TU/e is a formal shareholder in approximately 70 spin-offs. Revenues from these companies are reinvested in scientific research, for example through the TU/e Innovation Fund.
